The U.S. Embassy in Turkey has been awarded funding for a “Cochran Fellowship Program” and has selected 6 textile mills from Turkey to participate in this training program.  The Embassy focused on developing mills from the Southeastern region of Turkey and selected the participants.  This will be a first trip for these companies to learn about U.S. cotton.  The Embassy has also selected the dates and schedule for the group to travel to the United States for their U.S. cotton training.

The Cochran Fellowship Program is a USDA funded program outside of the regular FMD/MAP programs that CCI traditionally works.  Started in 1984 by Senator Thad Cochran, it provides short-term training opportunities to agricultural professionals from middle-income countries, emerging markets, and emerging democracies.  CCI will assist in organizing their meetings and travel logistics.  The local Agricultural Specialist with the U.S. Embassy, Ibrahim Sirtioglu, will travel with this group and serve as their interpreter.

The Turkish delegation will arrive in Dallas, Texas on August 2, 2018, for a and educational briefing of the cotton industry in Texas followed by a reception and dinner at the Tower Club in Dallas beginning at 6:30 p.m. The next morning, the group will tour a warehouse in Dallas. We encourage your attendance as we welcome this group to Texas! Please R.S.V.P. to this office if you plan to join us!

Below is the list of participants as well as the current itinerary.  We will post additional details about their textile mills once received from the U.S. Embassy.
